Field Trip on Friday:
Friday morning is our Urban Tour Group walking tour.  We'll leave in the morning and be back by lunch time.  Kids should dress comfortably, we will be out walking for a couple hours.  We won't have a snack, so a big, healthy breakfast is in order.  Please sign permission slips and send them to school.

The Play’s the Thing!!!

The Play’s the Thing!!!

Dear Families,
What a big week lies ahead.  Students have been working on the play since the fall and are ready to share their work with you!  Today we have a run-through in the morning and tomorrow is our dress rehearsal.  We’ll have two performances on Wednesday, 9:30 am and 6:30 pm.

For Tuesday, dress rehearsal, kids come to school dressed in their first costume.  School clothes and costume changes should come to school in shopping bag.  The best bags are the reusable grocery bags, they are quiet and durable.  We’ll tag the bags with our name and have them grouped in the main hallway so that kids can make costume changes as necessary.  OR we can group them under the rhodies outside the cafeteria door (hence the need for quiet bags!).

Also, this week, Thursday and Friday, we’ll be in the computer lab getting acquainted with the Smarter Balanced tests.  We won’t begin testing until after Spring Break, but the new tests have some interactive features we want kids to be comfortable using.

Homework, this week, will be another writing assignment.  This week I’m asking them to write a personal narrative about their participation in the play.  Via Google Docs, they will make notes, organize their thinking, draft, revise and edit their work.   We’ll do some work at school and some at home.  The final narrative will be shared with me by Friday.

Stay healthy and thanks for all your support,

Valerie McKenzie
